In 1959 Magnavox was competing very heavily in the high-quality audio market and much of their service data was considered as "proprietary information", hence not available to the general public and in many cases not published in SAMS Photofacts. Not surprising you are finding it difficult to find info about your Magnavox console. I may not get a chance this evening, but will certainly check those cartridge connections out tomorrow morning and advise you accordingly. I'm not sure of the correct terms, but these are what I'm referring to. IMG_2128.JPG įile comment: These are the slide connectors. IMG_2c129.jpg įile comment: I think the naked wires are the grounds? I'd appreciate the help immensely- unfortunately I haven't found any other sources for help either locally or schematic wise on the world wide web, then I stumbled upon this wonderful site!įile comment: I had stripped the wire to the right so I can prepare to solder, just don't know what goes to what. The cartridge has 3 slide wire connectors on a flip mechanism for either LP or 78 and one more slide connector on the metal roof of the cartridge. There are two main wires coming out of the console nestled under the tone arm, each wire splitting into two more wire (one naked and one insulated) before connecting to the cartridge, making a total of 4 wires. I would like to replace a portion of the wires with new ones, however, they seem to be a bit different then wires I've seen before. I'm not a master electrition so my delema is I do not know which wire connect to where, what are the grounds wires, and what to solder to what. ![]() Upon further inspection of the cartridge another one snapped off and I've concluded the wires are pretty brittle. While i was replacing the needle- one of the wires had accidentally snapped off from the cartridge. I'm seeking advice or maybe a wiring schematic for my Magnavox Turntable Console.
